What? You haven’t gotten your doggie a Christmas present?
Wait—What? You’ve never given your doggie a Christmas present?
That’s gotta change. The video speaks for itself. You’ll see…
I know it’s a bit too late to order things online, but your pooch probably won’t care if the toys come late. It’s the thought that counts, after all. In the meantime, you can always wrap up some treats and give them something to open on Christmas morning.
To make sure they don’t open the wrong presents, put a little treat in with the toy—it’s a sniff-able gift tag. As for putting the presents under the tree, use your judgment on the timing. Geordie will wait until Christmas morning if I tell him to wait, but he’ll bug me about it. Anyway, it can get a bit overwhelming for him to open everything on Christmas morning, so I’ve discovered it’s better to spread out the joy.
By the way, Geordie doesn’t get any money from anyone for his unbiased recommendations, and neither do I. These are just some of Geordie’s favorite toys which we’ve discovered recently. They aren’t ordinary dog toys, since he tends to go for the high-tech stuff. That said, he’s keen on certain kinds of balls—very hard mid-size tennis balls, the kind he can sink his teeth into, puncture, and shred into tiny little crumbles all over the carpet—but his interest in squeaker toys tends to last only a few minutes, and I suspect he only shows that much interest because he doesn’t like to offend.
Without further ado, here are Geordie’s top picks:
Snuffle mat. You can’t go wrong with these. They can get pretty elaborate, so consider what sort of mat will please your pooch.
Hexbug toys. These are cat toys, so definitely geared toward hunting/working dogs. That said, I can’t imagine any dog would object to a treat-launching remote-controlled robot mouse. It’s by far the coolest toy in their lineup. Zuke’s mini treats fit nicely in the treat-launching mouse, and Geordie loves them. So do his girlfriends, and they’re picky eaters.
Cat Car. This car is nice, but if you find one without the remote control option that’s cheaper, I’d go for that. That said, this one did have nice replacement feathers.
Trixie Puzzle. There are numerous puzzles out there, but this one is a good level for Geordie. He doesn’t like the two towers falling over—he hates falling objects—so I just leave those out of the game.
Here’s another Trixie puzzle game if you want to take it to the next level. It’s pretty challenging. I mean, it actually took me a minute to find the secret compartment. We have this game too, but I we rarely use it because the treats get stuck in the sliders.
Laser game. I can’t remember where I got the Christmas laser lights, but you can find them online or at the hardware store. You can also get laser pointers anywhere. I have a flashlight pointer, one that doesn’t require special batteries.
Find the egg game. Fill a few plastic Easter eggs with treats and hide them all over the house. “Find the eggs!”
Continuous Mister Squirt bottle. This didn’t make it on the video, but it’s great for many things. Geordie goes crazy when he hears me pumping it up. I got him this over the summer to keep him cool, but he also loves to chase the spray. Right now I’m using it to keep the Christmas tree from drying out. I’m sure you’ll find many, many uses.
Splash pad. This might have to be a very late Christmas present. Or maybe a birthday present. Anyway, Geordie loved playing in his own little splash pad this summer (I can’t remember if I’ve already posted this video, but whatever, here it is):
Have a very Merry Christmas!

Man, even the dogs have better toys these days than I did when I was a kid!
Merry Christmas to Geordie (and his owners)! 🎅🏼🎄🐕

I know, right? I had to play with regular stuffed animals that didn’t even do anything. Now I’m looking into buying a drone just to watch Geordie go crazy.
Merry Christmas to you too!

Merry Christmas and happy birthday? I have it in my planner that it’s today, but I’ve been known to get it wrong.
